Foreign Newspapers on the WWWForeign Newspapers on the WWWWhile Global Newsbank and World News Connection do, indeed, provide you with some newspaper articles from the foreign press, many newspapers worldwide are available, in some part, over the web. What is available varies dramatically from paper to paper. Sometimes you get today's paper. Sometimes you get just sample articles. Sometimes you get an archive of a week or two or even years. This archive may be browsable by day/date or key word searchable. Sometimes it is all free, sometimes not. Some papers want you to register with them even though they do not charge. The best lists I have found of what is available, country by country, are on these web sites:
Unique is World Press Review which includes excerpts and translations from non-English language sources. Also unique and very new is WorldPublicOpinion.org, launched in January 2006. It aims to "...to provide a source of in-depth information and analysis on public opinion from around the world on international issues." (from their "About Us" page). For additional news sources for a region, including possibile translated resources, look at the websites listed in this guide under specific regions.
